Going out of your way….

You know what I love? People that go out of their way. Whether it’s opening a door, listening to someone, or doing a favor. I hate that it seems so “rare” these days to see a person make an extra effort. I’m surprised anymore to get a wave when a car cuts in front of me! ::rolls eyes::

I saw this picture below on The Mother Load’s page and thought it was so sweet and pertaining to exactly what I am talking about.

paw

If you have trouble reading it, the note is from a vets office to a family whose dog was just put down. They send condolences and also made a copy of his paw print for the family to cherish.

I was also thinking about all the people that follow me who support my blog. By support I don’t mean they “agree” with me all the time. I mean they come back to it, continue to read what I write, and comment on my posts. That means a great deal and keeps me inspired to blog. I never realized people would find my life all that interesting or inspirational.

To all the people that have proved me wrong, thank you! For visiting, laughing, learning, identifying, and following. ❤

Why Bloglovin

Hey Friends!

bloglovin

So, I’m really behind in technology as many of my friends would tell you. I seriously (not kidding) just got passed down my first cell phone WITHOUT buttons. You know the kind that has the touch screen? Yeah, you probably have one within arms reach right now I bet ha! The entire thing is totally new for me. The only difference between me and Judge Judy is that I do pump my own gas. Other than that, her and I could totally have dinner sometime!!!

Ok, so what I have learned about being behind in technology. When one does not know, one must find out.  I heard someone say on Shark Tank the other day on ABC that their father taught them “People are not entitled to anything. We must work hard to gain.”  AMEN

So in honor of that quote, I have been doing some investigating. I googled “how to promote your blog.”

I was first guided to this awesome list I recommend you check out :

95 Places to Submit and Promote your blog for Traffic and SEO

SO if 95 places seems a bit daunting, I will tell you about the one main one I focused on….

Bloglovin

This page allows you to now only search through tons of blogs by category but also to link up your own!!!!

Linking up your blog is REALLY easy. This is coming from a girl who remember just got a buttonless phone!

Before I joined Bloglovin , they gave me option of signing up through my facebook. This is what I chose to do since it was easier than trying to recall another screen name and password. After joining and searching through some adds, I then discovered how to link my page up. You will find at the top of the Bloglovin page a picture icon that is your profile pic. Put your mouse up to it and a drop down bar will appear  that says Your Profile, Your Blog, etc. Click on “Your Blog” and click “Claim Blog.” In order to claim blog they are going to give you a small link to copy/paste into a new post in your blog. Keep this window open and on a separate page go to your blog and copy/paste link into new post. ( This is just to identify that it is YOUR BLOG that you are about to claim.)  Once you post link in your blog and posted, go back to the bloglovin page you kept open  and click claim blog. It is then linked in your profile.

My blog is linked up here:

Now, any blogs I follow through bloglovin have the opportunity to view and follow me back if they would like.

I found a great post by J9 Designs that explains why, out of MANY social networks (Twitter, Facebook , Google) , she chose Bloglovin.

It’s easy, free, and gives you more exposure. For me, it’s not so much about having a huge number of followers as it is me being able to “reach” more people. The more people, the more ideas and conversation. I appreciate ALL that visit my blog and find that being “followed” is the largest form of flattery.  ❤

Good Luck! I hope this helped some people 🙂

Follow The Leader…or not

Hello Friends,

ducks

I have a few “follower” questions which I am hoping you can help me out with.  I’m curious to know..

  • Do  you “follow” everyone who follows you?
  • If so, why or why not?
  • What about someones blog makes you want to “follow” them through EMAIL?

Here is my thing, I have many people who follow me (which I love!).   I always try to follow people back unless something seems off about their blog or blog picture.  I’m sure you know what I am referring too….those profile pictures that look like the person just got out of a prison camp haha. Anyway,  lately I’ve been wanting to get more involved with my follower’s blogs. However, I have followed so many people out of respect for them following me, that I’m having a hard time finding the blogs that I legitmately followed because we shared something. Whether it be a mutual understanding, hobbies, photography, DIY, motivation, past hardships, etc.

I know the great majority of us want followers! 🙂 But at the end of the day, do we want a high number of followers who don’t all participate in our blog (or read it for that matter), or a lower number of people who do take the time to stop by and say hi or browse through our material every now and then.   Here is my thing, I’m all about following people & following them back! If I’m being honest here though, I don’t foresee myself setting aside 20 minutes of my day to read about (example) comics, star wars, animated characters, etc.  It’s not because I don’t appreciate your writing! It’s just that we are humans and by nature we are attracted to things that we personally find appealing.

The following people through email thing is something I’m considering cutting back on as well. I hate to say this, but to follow you through email I literally need to know you by first name and have a desire to know what’s happening on your page before I go to bed. I know I set this bar really high but again, I follow a lot of blogs and cannot do the same through email. I would be SWAMPED with updates. If only I had more time to read everything! 😦  Anyone else feel this frustration?

So friends….hoping you can help me out with these questions above!  Thanks in advance.  ❤

To My Followers

Hello Followers (aka Friends) 🙂

Hope yall are having a wonderful day today! I just wanted to send a quick message out to let you know that this past week has been really hard for me medically so I have fallen behind with “adding” people who have added me as friends amongst other things.  If you are interested in me checking out your page please just post a message below! Also, please include a bit about your page and what you enjoy posting about.  I love adding new people but sometimes life gets in the way of having the time to do this. Trying to catch up!  Thanks in advance!

If you were not listed, it is not because I do not love or frequent your blog! Most likely, it is because I am new to your blog. The ones above I have either used their recipes or followed them for a bit longer. Hang in there with me! 🙂 I love to give credit to all my followers.

Thank You to my FOLLOWERS

I just want to put out a quick message and say thank you to those that follow me.  It’s nice to know that people take the time to read about my life or posts that I put up. When I started I had 0 followers and today I have 36. It does not sound like that much but to me it is. It’s the same thing as having a house party and having 36 people show up for it! Not a bad party at all!

happy

And I invite all those who would enjoy it to :

Hope everyone has a wonderful New Year! May 2013 be SO MUCH BETTER than 2012!
